Carla Pua'a, physician assistant

Carla Pua’a, physician assistantCarla Pua’a is a certified Physician Assistant. She joined Pinnacle Family Medicine in May of 2009. She is a native of Gilbert, Arizona. She graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and minor in Psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2001. She earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2003 from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. She has enjoyed her career thus far primarily in Family Medicine.

Carla works with Dr. Engstrom to provide timely, cost-effective and up-to-date medical care to their patients. She treats acute and chronic disease states, performs well child and adult physicals, sports physicals, and performs several simple in-office procedures. She enjoys spending quality time with patients as a clinician, an educator and often as a mentor. She has also been a preceptor to PA students from Midwestern University during their second year of clinical rotations and hopes to continue this in the future.

In her time off, Carla enjoys cycling and running. She completed a half marathon in 2008 and raised money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by racing in the MS 150 bike ride in March of 2010. She loves spending time with her husband and two children. She and her husband Chris were blessed with twins who keep them laughing often and reminded of the importance of living a long and healthy life. She hopes to help her patients do this as well.
